8 Weeks Old

Lauren had her 8 week well check yesterday.  She weighed in at 10.25 pounds and measured 22.5 inches long.  She is growing like a little weed.  Unfortunately, she had to get 4 shots and one oral dose of a Rota vaccine.  The shots really hurt her, and she basically slept, ate, and screamed all day long.  It was one of those pain cries that I never hear from her.  It truly broke my heart.  Thankfully, this morning she woke up feeling much better, and she was back to her usual smiling self again.

On a different note, while at the doctor's office, Lauren had the ultimate blowout diaper which leaked onto my lap (she was only in her diaper at this point).  I was busily talking to the doctor, and honestly didn't even know that she had unloaded almost the entire diaper onto my lap.  When I went to stand up and hand her over for him to check out, I noticed that I was literally covered in poop.  Thankfully, after several handfuls of paper towels, I was somewhat cleaned up.  Who knew that I would need to take another change of clothing for me in the diaper bag as well!?

I love these faces...especially the first one!

7 weeks old

This past weekend Lauren turned seven weeks old.  It is amazing at how much she is growing.  Her little cheeks aren't so little any more.  They are filling out quite nicely!

We all enjoyed the beautiful weather at the playground.  Lauren enjoyed relaxing in my arms while Taylor played non stop in the sand.  Dave was the photographer.  He enjoyed playing around with the settings on the camera.  Now, he wants a more advanced camera so that he can take better shots for his painting subject matter.  I love photographs, so I am game for a new camera!  Now comes the hard part...saving up for one!

Taylor's Superhero Birthday Party

This afternoon we celebrated Taylor's 4th birthday.  He desperately wanted a superhero themed party at home.  We tried to talk him into having a party at various fun spots in town, but he insisted that it be at home.  I was hesitant at first, especially with a new baby in the house, but ultimately I am thrilled that we were able to provide him with what he really wanted.  It was great to see dear friends and family, meet parents of Taylor's friends at school, and watch all the kids play play play!

Each child was provided a mask and a superhero cape.  Most of the children wore them while they played. At the end of the party, toys were everywhere!  It was a sure sign that a lot of playful fun was had.

On a very funny side note- the two and a half year old sister of one of Taylor's friends discovered Lauren's dresser during the middle of the party. The majority of the adults were mingling and the kids were playing- all while this little sister was taking all of the clothes out of Lauren's dresser and proceeding to try many of them on...completely NAKED.  There was this completely naked child (diaper off an all!) in the midst of all these kids playing.  Not one of them paid any attention to this two and a half year old trying on 0-6 month clothes.  I just had to laugh hysterically.

A few pictures from today and a first smile

The picture quality isn't the greatest, but I just have to share.  I was able to catch one of Lauren's first smiles.
