Taylor's first trip to the Zoo

We ventured out to the Zoo for the first time yesterday. We are not sure how many animals Taylor actually saw, but we are certain that he enjoyed the Pot Bellied Pig. We held him right up to the fence, and Taylor smiled and giggled while staring at this huge pig four inches away from his face. We will definitely make more trips there as he gets older.

So far we have fed Taylor avacadoes, sweet potatoes, carrots, and bananas. We fed him bananas today for the first time, and he LOVED them! He repeatedly spit out all of the other foods, but bananas he was able to keep in his mouth. In fact, bananas are the first food that he opened his mouth for and was excited to eat. Here are some messy, but cute pics.

Taylor's first cereal

On Saturday morning, Dave finished assembling Taylor's high chair while I prepared his first cereal. Taylor did really well in the highchair. I think he may have been a bit confused as to why it didn't move like all of the other things that we strap him into. We were really amazed at how well he opened his mouth for the spoon and that he actually ate the cereal. Ultimately though, he really just wanted to lick the spoon and play with it. He did manage to get down a good four spoonfuls before we started to see the grimacing expressions. We were very pleased at his first "real food" experience, and are looking forward to introducing him to an avocado and sweet potato very soon!

Are we getting ready to cut some teeth?

Taylor is drooling everywhere! Is this a sign of teeth to come? He is still in love with his toes, and on a really good day he will bounce and bounce in his jumpy seat. Baxter even gets a kick out of it when he bounces in it. It is a prime finger and toe licking spot for him!

Laughing Baby

We captured this video of Taylor the other day laughing hysterically at a rattle. It's pretty funny. Take a look.

Hello toes!

Taylor has changed so much recently. He just found his toes the other day, and they are his new favorite thing (well, other than his thumb and his frog that makes noise). He is also trying to sit up more on his own, and he is diligent about grabbing things that are within his reach. Another first is his fascination with Baxter. He never really paid much attention to Baxter, but recently when Baxter comes to lick his toes, he laughs (or actually lets out this elated shriek). It is so loud that Baxter is somewhat scared to approach Taylor now. He used to jump and lick all over him. Now, he keeps his distance until we call him over and let him know that things are okay. Here are a few pictures of these milestones.

Sleepy boy

I absolutely love it when I am able to steal a glimpse of Taylor sleeping. There is something so precious about him sound asleep with his behind up in the air that absolutely makes me want to melt. I also love the fact that he is starting to reach for things and hold on to them. A new favorite is this yellow bunny that also serves as a rattle (or for Taylor- a teething rattle).

Updates from Kiawah!

Here are a few pictures from the past few days here at Kiawah Island. It's been a blast down here. We are going to hate to go home.

Taylor's first beach trip

We finally made it down to Kiawah Island last night around 6:30. Taylor did so well during the four hour trip! Today, we introduced him to the pool for the first time. After a little koaxing, he warmed up to it. We are looking forward to taking him to the beach tomorrow! More pictures to come.

He found his thumb & rolled over!

This past week has been full of new discoveries for Taylor! He rolled over from his stomach to his back last Friday, and this past weekend he discovered that he can suck on his thumb. We have also noticed that he has so much more head and neck control now. No more bobble head! Here are a few precious shots of him sucking his thumb, and of him in his baby Bumbo chair.

"Chicks Dig Me"

Taylor's Aunt Angie gave him a cute little "Chicks Dig Me" onesie when she came to visit. When I put it on him today, I just had to snap a few pictures. Thanks, Aunt Ang!

Taylor's new favorite things

Taylor absolutely loves being tickled and playing on his tummy time mat. We play this game where I bounce him on my leg and tickle him. He shrieks and laughs out loud. It is absolutely precious. We recently introduced him to his tummy time mat. He loves looking around, but hasn't really discovered the toys that are at the head of the mat. He will discover them soon, I am sure!

And he is marked as Christ's own forever

Taylor was Baptised on Mother's Day this weekend. It was such a beautiful day, and Taylor did so well during the church service. He only cried once when the priest poured the water over his head. The Baptism was followed by a wonderful brunch at Mimi and Papa's house.

A Day At The Park

Today we enjoyed a picnic in the park with Mimi and Papa. Taylor really seems to love being outside!
