Three Weeks Old

We headed outside to enjoy the sixty plus degree weather today.  It was such a nice little taste of spring!  Taylor enjoyed playing on the playground while Dave and I finally had time to talk and catch up with each other.  Lauren spent her first trip to the playground sleeping comfortably in her car seat carrier.  What a great day to celebrate Lauren's three week old birthday!

Firsts

Lauren had a couple of firsts today.  First, her belly button fell off.  This is the first of many milestones that she will face.  She is no longer such a new newborn.  I have to admit that it is much easier to put on her diaper without worrying whether it will rub against her belly button.  Lauren also wore her first "girly" accessory- a pale pink bow.  She looked too adorable!

Lauren meets her Aunt Angie

Lauren met her Aunt Angie this weekend.  It was wonderful to see her again.  As always, she came with armfuls of gifts for Lauren and Taylor.  She spoils us rotten!  She sat with Lauren and snuggled her for the better part of Sunday afternoon.  We absolutely loved seeing her, and can't wait to see her again soon!

Lauren meets her Granny

Dave's mother had a terrible cold when Lauren was born.  She did come to the hospital briefly to lay eyes on Lauren, but she never got to touch or hold her.  She did the right thing for Lauren, but I know that it was incredibly hard for her!  So, last night she joined us for dinner and was able to snuggle and bond with Lauren for the first time.  Of corse, right as Linda was about to leave, Lauren started crying (or should I say wailing), and you could tell that it absolutely broke Linda's heart.  She'll be back soon for countless visits and snuggle sessions!

Lauren's new bedding

I just have to share Lauren's new crib bedding.  My mom finished it yesterday, and I am completely in love with it!  Although Lauren isn't using her crib just yet, it is all set up and ready for her at any time.

One Week Old

Lauren is one week old today!  She is such an amazing baby.  She loves to eat- about every 45 minutes to an hour for the past two days.  She also loves to sleep- more in the day than at night.  I kiss her way too much, but isn't that what mom's are supposed to do!?  Here are just a few of the hundreds of photos that we have taken.  I love to catch her when she is sleeping.

Taylor's tooth

Taylor had a great trip to the dentist today!  The other teeth looked great after examining the x-rays.  Thankfully!!  The tooth that was knocked on Monday night did have to be removed.   Taylor was given a strawberry gas mask to breathe, Tom and Jerry to watch, and a very gentle doctor that gave painless novocaine.  Dave said that the tooth was out in a matter of seconds.  He didn't flinch or even cry.  I am so proud of my big boy!!  On the way home from the dentist, Dave and Taylor stopped to get some soft fries to eat for lunch and a bucket of toy soldiers to play with at home.  He has been playing with them for hours.  It is amazing how such a timeless toy still entertains little boys today.  I also love the fact that there are no batteries that accompany this toy!!

Here is a picture of Taylor minus one baby tooth.  Checked out his chapped lips- the poor guy barely drank anything for the past few days.

An Update

We took Lauren in for her first check up with her pediatrician yesterday.  Everything looks great!  She has lost about 6% of her birth weight, and is now weighing 6 pounds, 15 ounces.  The doctor said anything between 5 and 10% is normal.  So we are right within that target range.  Lauren is doing everything that most newborns should do- eat, sleep, and go to the bathroom.  We are enjoying our immense amounts of snuggle time together.  This is another one of those "bottle this time up" moments in my life.  I am literally trying to savor every minute.

Taylor had quite the traumatic event take place for him on Monday night.  He fell in the den and smacked his mouth on the hardwood floors.  After wiping away the IMMENSE amount of blood, we noticed that one of his bottom front teeth was knocked.  The pediatric dentist feels that it has been moved too far forward to be moved back to the correct position.  Therefore, we have an appointment tomorrow at 10am to have the tooth removed.  Poor little guy.  His world has been completely upside down with a new baby, and now he has all this mouth trauma going on.  We will no doubt have a lot to tell Lauren about the days right after she was born!

I am including a picture of Taylor showing Lauren a picture of a triangle that he just cut out of paper.  If you look carefully, you can see the bottom front tooth that has been knocked forward.

Happy New Year 2011!

The Parker family rang in the New Year in the most relaxed way possible- in our pajamas.  As a matter of fact, this 39 week pregnant mom was in bed by 10pm (which is waaayyy past my bed time now).  Temporarily gone are the days when I would stay out late with friends and ring in the new year when the ball drops in Times Square.  I remember those fun times really well, but am perfectly happy staying at home snuggling up with my sweet family.   Dave, Taylor, and I made fondue for dinner, drank sparkling grape juice, and enjoyed family time while waiting for our dinner to simmer in cheese and hot oil.  We will definitely have to break out the fondue pots more often!  I hope that you had a fabulous start to the new year- even if it was as low key as ours!
