Last night we wrapped up our Christmas celebration with a fire, leftover Christmas Eve dessert, and watching snow fall outside the window while watching Taylor play with his new toys in front of the tree. We couldn't get more picture perfect than that! I wish that I could have bottled that time up and shelved it for a later date. However, I do have amazing memories that I will never forget!
This morning, we woke up to a few inches of snow on the ground. We all bundled up, and headed outside for a walk, a snow ball fight, and an attempt to make a petite snowman. Taylor and Dave did most of the playing while I shot pictures. I am quite slow moving these days (I'm 38 weeks pregnant today). Perhaps the next time we have some snow, we will have another sweet child to photograph!
Merry Christmas! Taylor was completely overwhelmed with the magic of Christmas and the generosity of Santa. He played and played until he couldn't keep his eyes open any longer. I think that I love Christmas now more than ever because I can see the view from Taylor's perspective. It completely warms my heart. Here are a few highlights from our morning together.
This was truly a fun filled holiday weekend. However, it started off a little rough. On Friday evening, Taylor came to Dave with a piece of his train track stuck on his middle finger right above the knuckle. I was taking a quick nap (after a long day at school) when Dave came in to tell me that he needed some help. Taylor was crying, his finger was quite red, and he had a train track piece stuck to his finger and it was not budging. I immediately thought that it was no big deal...we would just put lotion on his finger and it would slide right off. No suck luck. I couldn't get the lotion between his finger and the track. Taylor was starting to panic because it wouldn't come off. To be quite honest, I was starting to panic as well. I had visions of us waiting in the ER for someone to saw it off of his finger. I shouldn't have feared because Dave was able to get some vaseline between Taylor's finger and the track. He used an envelope to slide the slippery vaseline in, and then he broke out two pairs of pliers to literally pry the piece off of Taylor's finger. In total, it only took about 20 minutes to free Taylor's precious finger. It is quite funny now, but it was not funny on Friday evening.
On Saturday evening, we took Taylor to see the lights at Roper Mountain. It was freezing, but worth it. Taylor loved the lights. It is almost a magical experience to walk and then drive through all of those lights while listening to Christmas music. The experience really gets you into the Christmas mood!!
Today, we lit a fire and many Christmas scented candles, and enjoyed scones and hot tea in the living room. Having tea and scones on Sunday night is an Eason family tradition that I have always loved. My dad grew up having tea as well, and it is definitely something that I want to pass down to my children. Dave really enjoys it, and I think that I love it more now than I ever have. Thanks mom and dad for carrying on such an enjoyable tradition!
We have not seen my brother and his wife in over a year and half! We were absolutely thrilled when we heard that they were making a trip to Greenville for a long weekend. We have had an absolute blast visiting and eating and eating and eating again with them. I think that it is an Eason thing to plan trips around amazing food. We always seem to do that (however, I am definitely not complaining- it's a pregnant woman's dream come true). Here are just a few shots from our weekend together. Kirk and Melissa, we will miss you both so much. We can't wait to see you again in the spring. It will be here before we know it!
Check out the dirty face and the outfit covered in leaves. The ear protection (to drown out the lawn mower and leaf blower) adds a nice touch too! He had a blast hauling blown leaves from one area to another. A long two and a half hour nap followed very shortly after these pictures.
My dear friend Sarah and her mother threw me the most amazing baby shower yesterday. The tables were decorated beautifully with candles and my favorite flowers, lilies. The food was also nothing short of amazing as well. It was a pregnant woman's dream come true- chocolate, cupcakes, mocha punch, and finger foods galore!
My friends truly topped off the event! It was so nice to get together with them and talk, relax, and just enjoy each other's company. It is not often that we get to do that! I wish that I had taken a picture of all of the fabulous gifts that they gave me. The outfits were so sweet, soft, and girly. I was completely spoiled rotten with hand smocked gowns, paty gowns, precious soft outfits, toys, and all sorts of baby girl necessities. When this sweet baby arrives, she will have absolutely no shortage of clothes and toys. Thank you all for everything! I am so blessed to have such wonderful friends!
Here are a few shots of the day. I realized once Kelly left that I hadn't taken any pictures of people- only food and flowers, so I quickly had a few shots taken. I wish that I had at least one shot of Kelly. I will just have to run across the street soon and get her to pose with me for at least one picture so that I can have it in our little girl's baby book!
Happy Halloween! Here are a couple of shots of our tiger. Taylor had a blast this year trick-or-treating with his good friend Emily and their neighbor, Rebecca. He's already talking about what he wants to be for Halloween next year. I would say that this year was a complete success!
Dave's company held their annual picnic yesterday at a nearby park. It was beautiful weather for a fun "carnival" type picnic! We enjoyed rides on the trackless train, playing games for fun prizes, eating Nathan's hotdogs, fresh popcorn, and chatting with friends. It was a great time- and I didn't have to cook dinner when we got home!
