Sledding- day 2

Today was an even better day for sledding.  The entire ground- grass, road, and all was literally a solid sheet of ice.  Taylor fell a few times, but there weren't any serious injuries that would keep us from sledding.  We took turns heading down the hill near our house that leads into the cul-de-sac.  Then, we took a walk around the neighborhood.  Dave pulled Taylor the entire way in the sled.  The walk took probably three times longer than it normally would because we were having to walk very slowly and carefully.  It was worth every minute of it!  We are all tired now, and we are ready for lunch!  The sun is out, and the ice is rapidly melting.  We enjoyed it while it lasted.  Maybe we will have another round this year!?

Fun sledding!

Well, we didn't get the 3-6 inches that they were calling for, but we did get a good layer of sleet and ice that made for great sledding!  We bundled Taylor up in his little ski bid, snow boots, mittens, and heavy jacket.    We then hauled out the sled that I once used as a kid and headed outside for some fun.  Taylor had a blast.  After about 2 minutes, he didn't want Dave to hold on to him any longer, and he wanted to get higher and higher on the hill.  We were outside for about an hour and half.  We even walked through the nature trail, over the bridge, and to a huge hill that the neighbors have named "Dead Man's Hill."  We didn't dare sled down it, but I sure did take pictures of other crazies sledding.  I think that we may head back outside after Taylor's nap.  For now, we are going to sit next to a fire, eat some lunch, and enjoy some hot tea.  What a fabulous day!

Rescue Heroes

When Christie came to visit, she brought all of Owen's Rescue Heroes for Taylor to play with.  Their "hub" is huge and there are about 15 heroes along with all of their vehicles, backpacks, and tools.  It is quite the set-up!  We found the movie of the Rescue Heroes as well.  Since we introduced theses heroes to Taylor, he has played with them non stop.  He has hardly played with any of his Christmas presents.  Instead, he wants to watch the Rescue Heroes movie and play with the toys at the same time.  It is his favorite thing to do right now.  It is just too precious to watch his imagination explode as he plays with them.  From the moment he wakes up, to the bath tub, to bed he plays with them.

Right after Taylor was born, a wonderful teacher at my school gave me this cardboard playhouse for Taylor.  At the time, Taylor was only a few months old.  The boxed up cardboard house collected dust tucked away in a corner of my classroom.  Then, this summer, I put it together and Taylor played in it while I set up my classroom.  It was a fabulous babysitter!  Now, he still enjoys going inside it and pretending, but he is really into knocking it down.  He particularly enjoys knocking it down while someone else (i.e. his dad) is inside.  Then he can put on his Batman top and cape and rescue his dad.  Dave plays along so well.  He pretends that he is trapped and he must be saved.  In fact, the other night when I was making dinner, Taylor came running in to the kitchen and announced, "Dad is stuck!  I can't get him out!"  Just precious!

New Year's Day fun!

Happy New Year!!   I can hardly believe that it is now 2010.  Wow!  We spent the morning with my amazing friend, Christie, and her three precious children.  We bundled everyone up and headed out to the playground for an hour or so.  Taylor had a blast!  Charis and Owen, Christie's two oldest children, were so much fun for Taylor to play with.  Duncan, who is now 9 weeks old, isn't that great for Taylor to play with, but he is an excellent snuggler for me to snuggle with.  Here are a few pictures from our morning together.
