Sky Top 2010

We headed up to Sky Top Orchards with the Purcers today.  Just like last year, we were one of the first cars to arrive, and we felt like we had the whole orchard to ourselves.  We walked for what seemed like forever, but we managed to pick a half bushel of some fantastic tasting apples.  I have plans for apple pies and lots of apple snacks in our future!  If you haven't been to Sky Top, it is truly worth the trip just to have one (or three) of their apple cider cinnamon doughnuts.  They are made on site, and are still steaming hot when you get your order.  Amazing!!!

Dave's latest painting

Dave finished his latest painting last week, and I just wanted to share it.  I am so thrilled with this one!  He is working on an ocean painting now.  He says that it is going to be a challenge.  I can't wait to see the final product.  One day I want to have all of our walls just covered with his work!!  Maybe Taylor or the new baby will be blessed to inherit his artistic talents.

Sprinkles please!

This was Taylor's request for breakfast this morning- homemade cinnamon rolls....with sprinkles on top!  I have never heard of that before, but why not try it out today!  I think that it made his day.

Getting ready for fall

With the cool air and rain today, it has really started to feel like fall.  The leaves are beginning to change and fall to the ground, soup for dinner sounds amazing, apple and spice scented candles are appearing on store shelves, and I am starting to see pumpkins appear on neighbors door steps.  I simply can not get enough of this season!  I try to soak it up each and every day.  It really feels like fall when you break out the long sleeved shirts too!  We are not ready to wear these, but my mom surprised me yesterday with five embroidered shirts for this fall and winter for Taylor.  They are just adorable!  Come on cool weather...I am tired of the same old shorts and short sleeved shirts that Taylor has been wearing.  I am ready for these cute little numbers.  Thanks, mom. You are amazing!  Did I mention that she already made his fabulous tiger Halloween costume?!  She is a machine.

Last night I was in a fall mood, and I decided to make a great new creamy chicken and wild rice soup.  It will go on my list of favorites.  Also, yesterday, Amy came by and bought a good number of Taylor's newborn to 6 months clothes.  She is expecting a boy one week before Taylor's birthday.  The seasons for their clothes will match exactly!  I am thrilled that she found some things that she liked, and that she was able to take a few items out of Taylor's closet.

Today, it began raining in the early morning.  No problem here- we needed the rain, and it makes it feel so much like fall.  However, if you live in my neighborhood, you know that it can simply drizzle and the power will go out.  Of course, around 1:00 or so the power went out.  Therefore, Taylor would not take his nap.  He kept saying, "something strange is going on."  This made us laugh, and no matter how hard we tried to convince him that things were okay, he was very skeptical.  He and Dave played a few games on the ipad while I finished cleaning the house (because everyone generally swiffers and mops while there is no power- am I nesting or what!?).  Taylor ultimately fell asleep on Dave's lap.  I had to snap a quick shot. Two hours later, he woke up from a great sleep, and he was in a great mood.

Hilton Head 2010

Dave, Taylor, and I just returned from an incredibly relaxing, much needed, two night trip to a resort on Hilton Head Island.  We had amazing weather, an abundance of family time, and some of the best seafood around!  Taylor cried this morning when we told him that it was time to go.  It made me want to cry as well!!  We are already looking forward to our next visit there!
