The Georgia Aquarium

Early Thursday morning, we packed up the car, dropped Baxter off at Mimi and Papa's house, and headed down to Atlanta. We picked up Aunt Angie (Taylor's Godmother, my sorority big sister, and of course my very very dear friend) and toured the amazing Georgia Aquarium. What an outstanding place to spend a rainy morning. Taylor was in awe of the whale sharks, the sea otters, and all of the other animals that they had on exhibit there (well, with the exception of the jelly fish- he really didn't care too much for them). We followed the Aquarium visit with lunch from Zoe. I really must find one of those somewhere near Greenville. It is hands down my favorite lunch spot now. Ah my mouth is starting to water just thinking about their feta and tomato pasta salad..WOW!!

We had a great, but very short visit with Angie. We were able to see her new townhouse and spend some quality time with her. It has been way too long since our last visit. We will just have to schedule another trip to the aquarium very soon (any maybe the Coca-Cola factory next time?).

Oh, and check out the cute little shirt that Angie gave Taylor. It, of course, has a John Deere tractor on it and it says, "Dirt makes me cuter". Taylor insisted on wearing it right away, wearing it to bed, and then wearing it home the next day. I have no idea how I coerced him to take it off last night to wash it. Thanks, Angie for a wonderful trip! We miss you!!

Another rock star moment

A funny evening

Check out what I found when I went to check on Taylor and his two friends from next door, Jack and Jaycee. They were playing "night night" in his crib. I had to laugh and get the camera out. While I was cooking dinner, I kept hearing Taylor say, "I go night night now." He plays this all the time. I just never thought that they would all hoist themselves into his crib to play. Too funny!

Now, you have to watch this video of Taylor playing the drums. He ADORES music, guitars, drums, etc. He is definitely following in his father's footsteps! I thought that I turned the camera off, but apparently I didn't. Taylor was drumming so hard that he caught his drumstick on his cheek. His expression was so funny that I laughed, and if you listen carefully I even snort- I can definitely laugh about myself! Taylor wasn't phased for long because he kept on drumming.

We had yet another great play date with Kelly and AnnaKate today. Taylor was like a kid in a candy store- he just didn't know where to begin or what toy to play with first. Of course, Taylor takes almost every toy out of the toy bin and transfers his favorite toys from AnnaKate's room to the den. Kelly is so patient and understanding. I am sure that the house looked like a tornado hit once we left. Every time we go over to AnnaKate's house, we always find the greatest toys. We will need to buy a barn and some animals that make noise soon! Taylor had a blast!

This week's happenings

I have really started to fall behind with the posts- whoops. My goal of posting every day is definitely appearing to be unrealistic. Ideal...but unrealistic. So, I will recount the highlights of the week. This past week, we visited the library, the zoo, the pool, and had a play date with Emily and Sarah, and another play date with Kelly and AnnaKate. We had a blast! This weekend was quite fun as well! Dave was off on Friday for the 4th and we made the most of his time off. We went to the pool, ran some errands together, took naps, watched Charlotte's Web, made homemade pizza, and tried out a Rachel Ray recipe for Mojito slushies (fantastic!). Our Saturday adventures were started off by making a trip to the market in downtown Greenville. I get giddy when I see organic produce and meat everywhere. The possibilities are endless. I already have my list made out for next weekend's trip! I am going to use some of the fresh blueberries that we bought and try out this blueberry pancake recipe for breakfast this morning. Hopefully, they are as good as they look on the site!

After visiting the market, we did a few things around the house and then headed off to my parent's house for a 4th of July cookout. It is always so wonderful to see the Gillespie side of the family at events like this. Taylor absolutely loves playing with his older cousins, Jenna and Abby. They are exceptionally wonderful at playing with him and making sure that he doesn't get hurt. They are wonderful "little mommies". Taylor particularly liked that they would play trucks with him and that they weren't afraid to get their hands dirty when digging holes in Papa's flower beds (oops). Needless to say, he had a nice long soak in the bathtub when we returned home. I hope that everyone had a wonderful weekend and a great way to celebrate the 4th!
