Hard hat for hard heads

Phew...Taylor is definitely entering the "terrible two's." Everything is "No!" Even if he DOES want something or he DOES want to do something his standard answer is, "No!" We have figured out that he wants everything to be his idea. If it is his idea, we are good to go. Often times we will catch Taylor pointing his finger at Baxter saying, "No, Bax, no." It is actually quite comical, but we are trying not to laugh in front of him!

So...it is quite appropriate that Taylor loves his new hard hat that he got for Christmas. Hard headed toddlers may need a hard hat. As we were working in the yard yesterday, Taylor decided that he wanted to wear his dad's ear muffs and his hard hat at the same time. It was so appropriate when he started measuring everything with the tape measure. He looked like a mini foreman. If we just had some miniature blueprints, my dad would be thrilled because he would look like a toddler architect. I had to capture the moment with a few shots.

Merry Christmas!

We survived the stitches on Christmas Eve, and we were able to have a fun filled Christmas day! Taylor was completely shocked to see Mimi and Papa at our house when he woke up. He was even more surprised to see a train set in our living room. I think that he was completely overwhelmed! We had to wait almost an hour so that Taylor could play with the trains before opening any gifts. I have a video of us asking him if he wants to open any presents and he shakes his head and says, "No! No!" It is too funny! We did manage to get a few presents opened. He actually still has four or five under the tree that he didn't open yet. We are going to have an extended Christmas at my parents house on Saturday so we will open them then. I hope that you and your family had a wonderful Christmas experience too!!

Taylor's first stitches- and on Christmas Eve too!

Well, this Christmas Eve morning seemed like all Christmas Eve mornings of the past...until Taylor smacked his head and split it open. He pushed over his small rocking chair and proceeded to crawl on top of it. Naturally, since it is not designed to be climbed on, it tipped over and Taylor went tumbling. He hit his head on a puzzle piece that has a peg for small fingers to grip. I guess that he hit it with such force that it split his little forehead right open. He, Dave, and I were stunned at first. Then, we saw the blood. Head wounds of course bleed a lot anyway, but this one was a bleeder! I noticed pretty much right away that it was split open and would probably need stitches. Dave called the doctor's office, and thankfully they were open and wanted to see us right away.

Taylor was such a trooper. He cried a little when they cleaned it out, but overall that part went well. After the doctor examined it, he did say that it needed stitches. The good news was that he was a perfect candidate for the liquid Dermabond stitches. Yeah!! The doctor felt it would heal nicely with the liquid version and it would be less traumatic for Taylor (and for mom too!). Taylor ate a grape lollipop, cried a little, and then we snuggled for a long time. He is resting comfortably now. I am sure he is going to have a doozy of a headache when he wakes up though. Hopefully that will be the only doctor visit we have to make this holiday season!!

Gingerbread House

Yesterday, we cleared off the island in the kitchen and decorated our first gingerbread house. Taylor had a great time sticking gumdrops and little candies on the house. The only problem that we encountered was that he didn't want to quit touching it. He wouldn't just look at it from a distance. He had to constantly touch it. He shed some huge tears when he eventually put it on the counter out of his reach to dry. Taylor even completed the Christmas look by wearing his new elf slippers. Check it out.

Taylor and the Reindeer

Dave's mom recently sent Taylor this singing reindeer to enjoy while we prepare for Christmas. Taylor adores it and loves to dance to it. He dances kind of like his mom (stays in one place, moves a little, and is funny to watch). Sorry the picture quality isn't good. We were putting the lights and ornaments on the tree and we didn't have many bright lights on. Enjoy the video!
