Ice Cream Social

It has been a while since I posted.  The last few days of school were quite busy to say the least. Now that school is out I can take more pictures and post on a more regular basis.  Dave has been busy too at work and at painting.  He started his own blog ww.recentpaintings.blogspot.com and he recently finished a beautiful green apple.  Check it out if you have a few extra minutes.  

Yesterday, Kelly  and I hosted a neighborhood ice cream social in her back yard.  Of course, it looked like somthing out of Martha Stewart.  She had beautiful handmade decorations hanging from the trees, card tables with beautiful tablecloths, activities for the kids, and some of the best homemade peach and mint chocolate chip ice cream.  I provided the homemade vanilla ice cream and the pink lemonade- nothing too special, but at least I can say that I contributed.  Thanks, Kelly, for providing a wonderful atmosphere for a great neighborhood get together!  What's our plan for next year's party?

Garden update

My garden is really starting to take off.  I am enjoying watching the plants grow and produce little buds.  The tomatoes have a number of flowers on them already and the squash, cucumber, and pepper plants also have quite a few buds.  Today when my mom was over, she noticed that we have blackberries growing on our fence right next to the garden.  Who knew!?  She has those eagle eyes.  She can spot berries from a mile away.  

All aboard!

This weekend really flew by!  We packed a lot in to such a short amount of time.  Check out these cuties in their "conductor" outfits.  The Weekes and our family went to Jakob's third birthday.  It had a train theme to it and all of the little kids were able to dress up like train conductors.  Taylor and AnnaKate liked it for a little while, and then they decided that they needed to shed the dress up clothes and find other things to play with. 

The pictures at the bottom are of Taylor inside his toy bin.  He is always finding a way to ride on toys that are not supposed to be ridden on, or he is climbing in things, or he is jumping on top of things.  Boys will be boys!  Once he saw me with the camera, he would hide his head and then pop up and say, "Cheese!"  Of course, I had to capture those moments!

Mother's Day 2009

Happy Mother's Day to all of my "mother" friends!  I just can't express my joy in being a mother. I am so blessed to have such a great child that I can love every day.  I wouldn't trade being a mother for a second!  I came to realize this blessing that I have when I was stopped last week at Publix by an older lady.  She kept staring and smiling at Taylor.  She came up to me and told me that she would trade a year of her life to be able to go back and experience just one day with her son when he was young.  She also told me that she just said good-bye to her son that day as he left for Iraq.  I wanted to hug that sweet lady right there in Publix.  I also wanted to scoop Taylor up out of his "big truck" shopping cart seat and hold and kiss him.  It is amazing how much her words touched me.  I need to slow down and just enjoy life as a mom.  On that note, I again say "Happy Mother's Day!"

Look at this adorable and incredibly sweet background that I discovered on the computer this morning.  Dave knows me so well.  The computer and coffee are the first things that I am able to focus on in the wee hours of the morning.  Thank you, Dave, I love it!

Artisphere and barbecue

We headed down to the Court Street Market and then to Artisphere this morning.  We didn't buy anything this time from the market.  However, I made a mental list of all of the spring vegetables and fruit that I would like to purchase next weekend!  I can hardly wait.  After the market, we made our way down Main Street to take a peak at the artists and their amazing work.  Dave was in Heaven!  

Later this afternoon, we celebrated Chris Wood's graduation.  He is officially on his way to teaching his own class.  Congratulations Chris!  We had an amazing barbecue at their house with their family and friends.  Taylor and Emily were just too cute playing and swinging.  Of course, I had to snap a few shots.
